Soothing Sounds of Chimes

The Soothing Sounds of a Garden Wind Chime

A garden wind chime is known for their soothing sounds. They can be crafted from metal, porcelain, or wood and when hung in an area that is directly affected by the wind, they release a series of melodious tones. In fact, the windchime is a musical instrument, often accompanying other percussion instruments such as drums. Though you might not feel the need to play your  chimes, you can rest assured that you’ll have beautiful, soothing sounds as the wind performs that task for you. Chimes are a wonderful enhancement for the garden and provides a tranquil, relaxing experience for those who are enjoying the garden’s beauty.

Used in Feng Shui, chimes are also revered for their ability to transform and move energy. Many people prefer to use the principles of Feng Shui in their home and garden design, and these chimes fit perfectly with the style. Since they attract the wind, they are believed to take energy and transform it into a peaceful, beautiful series of sounds. This principle is used to determine various locations for them, as the belief is that the same principle can transform negative emotions as well. Based upon Feng Shui principle, many choose to place them in doorways, entrance ways, on patios and porches, and in windows. Additionally, they are used to moderator or control energy. Just as the wind will slow down when passing through your fingers, the same is true for wind that passes through your chimes.

When you hang them in areas such as door or walkways, it’s important to ensure that you place them high enough that they won’t become an obstruction. Though the person hanging the wind chimes might be five foot two, the height of your visitors might far surpass that. Always allow for those who stand six feet and above to have plenty of headroom when walking through doorways.
